Primal Creation, we try to make music for ourselves, because we like writing and playing

Primal Creation consists of five persistent men playing metal the way they see fit. The band found its current stable line-up in 2014 and self-released their debut full-length album
Demockracy three years on, in 2017. Their modern thrash metal brought them support slots for D.R.I. and Skeletonwitch as well as a spot at Wacken Open Air 2019. Early 2020 – the forsaken pandemic year – the band released a digital only single Vial Play. This new track displayed a step up towards a more progressive and twisted sound, while retaining their thrash metal roots. A keen eye for hooks, melody and authentic angry vocals complete the sound of Primal Creation.
Come 2021, Primal Creation proudly presents their sophomore record News Feed. 1 intro and 8 tracks display the evolution the band has gone through. News Feed was recorded and mixed throughout 2020 by Francis Snebbout at Oakwood Recording Studio, Kaprijke (BE) and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, NY (USA). The album was released on 16-04-2021 and is available on both CD and vinyl (limited to 100 pieces).
In 2023 Primal Creation played the Oilsjt Omploft Fest alongside Warbringer & Evil Invaders among others. October 19th the band released a new single. Not In My Backyard is accompanied by a professional video shot and edited by Yarne Heylen (Carnation) of Project Zero Studio.

METALMUSIC – Could you tell our readers about the band what makes you different from other artists?
PRIMAL CREATION –
That’s a difficult question. For starters, I think we try to make music for ourselves, because we like writing and playing. Also, we try to evolve and never do the same thing twice. Then again, we’re not the only band approaching our music this way. I think – again, as many other acts – the music itself and the influences we all have is what makes us Primal Creation.

METALMUSIC – How did you become involved in this crazy world of music?
PRIMAL CREATION
Listening to metal (and other music), picking up an instrument, finding bandmates, rehearsing, performing, writing music, recording music… For me personally, my dad is a fan of the sixties beatbands, whereas my mom listens to Roy Orbison, Queen, but also German schlagermusic for example. I guess those were the first artists I heard as a kid.

METALMUSIC – Who are your musical inspirations and what was the inspiration behind the album and the songs?
PRIMAL CREATION
The major musical influences of Primal Creation range from big old school thrash bands like Testament and Kreator, to bands such as At the Gates, Pantera, Sylosis and Gojira. Lyrically, I am mainly inspired by the human condition – corruption, stupidity, short-term views, … Basically what frustrates me on a daily basis when I watch or read the news. When it comes to metal vocalists, I’m a fan of Riley Gale (RIP), Tomas Lindberg & Mille Petrozza a.o.

METALMUSIC – What are your interests outside of music?
PRIMAL CREATION
A lot! Speaking for myself I like to ride my bike, do some travelling and hiking. I also try to read a good book from time to time and I love to spend time with my family. We all still like our videogames to a certain extent as well as attending shows and festivals.

METALMUSIC – Tell us about the new upcoming album?
PRIMAL CREATION
There aren’t really any plans for a full length album as of now. We released “Not in My Backyard” as a single with a video and we keep on writing songs. The next one is about to be recorded. Could be we release some of them on an EP, but we’re not sure about that right now. Let’s see what opportunities the future brings.

METALMUSIC – Where was the album recorded who produced it and how long did the process take?
PRIMAL CREATION
We recorded the song at Oakwood Recording Studio with Francis Snebbout. We recorded our previous two albums with him as well, so we both know what to expect. It’s close to home and we are very satisfied with the end result! The song was recorded, mixed and produced by Francis and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Studio, NY. Recording “Not in My Backyard” took place after work hours, for about a week.

METALMUSIC – What is the highlight of the album for you and why?
PRIMAL CREATION
The single in itself I think is powerful, catchy and has a very distinct sound, recognizable as Primal Creation.
