Meghistos – “The Reasons”

Excellent work for this Italian one man band, which offers death metal with violent, dark and brutal features. Meghistos, this is the pseudonym used by the musician who composed and played the entire album (with the help of guitarist Andy Panigada of Bulldozer on some tracks), manages to construct songs of rare intensity, where the american death metal of the early nineties finds a sublimation with some hints of industrial and electronic music, which immediately brings us back to some experiments of bands such as Nocturnus or early Morbid Angel.

The very thick darkness that characterizes each track even leads one to think of certain forays into older black metal. There is a lot of atmosphere in these songs, even if in the end we are talking about death metal, but this is precisely what distinguishes Meghistos from many other death metal projects.

This is therefore a particular, morbid, very bad album, which will only be able to take root in those who seek true sonic extremism, but also lyrical extremism, given that the album talks about a journey towards the Evil One, from which one cannot then return back, and this is also the meaning of the cover artwork, a door that once crossed means a real pact with the Devil! An album to have, very special!
