Ischemic conjures depths of despair with new single “Rust and Bone”

The cavernous depths of death/doom metal have a new echo resonating within them as ISCHEMIC releases their latest single, “Rust and Bone,” a foreboding piece from their much-anticipated album, Condemned to the Breaking Wheel, slated for release on April 5, 2024.

“Rust and Bone” is a journey through desolation and despair, encapsulating ISCHEMIC’s mastery over slow, hypnotic soundscapes that are both crushing and emotionally charged. This release is a testament to the band’s prowess in creating music that not only devastates but also immerses the listener in a trance-like state, reflecting the relentless passage of time and the inevitability of decay.

At the crossroads of death and doom metal, ISCHEMIC stands as a monolith of genre-defining sound. Known for their slow, brooding compositions interwoven with hypnotic soundscapes, ISCHEMIC has carved a niche within the metal community, garnering a dedicated fan base. Their upcoming release, Condemned to the Breaking Wheel, is poised to further cement their legacy as pioneers of deep, introspective metal.

Listeners can immerse themselves in the haunting realms of “Rust and Bone” HERE. The anticipation surrounding Condemned to the Breaking Wheel is a clear indicator of the impact ISCHEMIC intends to make, with “Rust and Bone” serving as a mere glimpse into the epic odyssey that awaits.

In the shadowy catacombs of Toronto in 2012, ISCHEMIC was formed by vocalist Isabelle T and guitarist Adam K. Their mission was clear: to end the drought of local death/doom bands and to offer something uniquely grim and heavy. Influenced by the vile ferocity of death/doom acts such as HOODED MENACE, AUTOPSY, and ASPHYX, and blending it with the melodic gloom of AGALLOCH and PARADISE LOST, ISCHEMIC also drew upon the sonic girth of modern doom acts like AHAB, CONAN, and THOU. The result is a sound that is capable of crushing skulls, breaking hearts, and trampling crypts.

ISCHEMIC’s live performances have been a vital part of their identity, sharing stages with bands such as WOE, BLIZARO, ARCHSPIRE, WILT, BEYOND CREATION, BLOOD OF CHRIST, and ISKRA.Their shows are known for their intensity and the emotional depth they bring, showcasing the band’s ability to connect with audiences through their powerful music.

The discography of ISCHEMIC showcases a journey through evolving sounds and themes. Starting with Frigid Descent (EP, 2013), the band made their mark with a blend of crushing doom and melancholic undertones. This was followed by All Paths Lead Nowhere (EP, 2016), where they explored darker, more chaotic territories of black and black/doom metal. Stagnation and Woe (LP, 2018) saw the band refining their sound into a cleaner, more focused direction. Then came Ischemic (LP, 2021), which marked a shift towards a more primitive dirge, receiving acclaim for its visceral and pummeling force.

As Condemned to the Breaking Wheel is set to be unveiled, ISCHEMIC is ready to unleash a new chapter in their musical saga. This album not only represents the culmination of years of musical evolution and experimentation but also reaffirms the band’s commitment to creating deeply affecting and bleakly atmospheric music. With its release, ISCHEMIC is set to once again captivate and engage fans old and new, proving their enduring relevance and innovation within the death/doom genre.
