Coilguns – “Shunners/Burrows” – REV

Coilguns is one of the proud flag holders of the 2.0 DIY scene since 2011. The band counts a total of four ep’s and three full-lengths. Its history is deeply bound to the development of guitarist Jona Nido’s own label – Hummus Records – that gathers up to now more than a hundred releases including all Coilguns discography.

Their music has always been recorded live and uncut, generally written, and recorded on the spot wherever they were at the moment. Their two last efforts were 100% self-produced, engineered and mixed by the band members.
Relentlessly touring Europe since the release of their second LP “Millennials” in 2018, the band is known for its raw, uncompromising and euphoric live performances. They released their third album “Watchwinders” in November 2019 and this is when Coilguns toured last throughout Europe.

Like every touring band in the world, Coilguns had to cancel all plans for 2020 and 2021. Currently working on their fourth album, they extracted two songs that they produced themselves and will release them this fall as a limited screen-printed vinyl.

For the first time since the band’s inception, the recorded music features bass guitar. Kevin Galland joined the band in March of 2020 and on top of playing synth and bass, he also mixed and mastered both new songs while singer Louis Jucker took care of the recording. Louis had recorded, mixed and mastered both “Millennials” and “Watchwinders”. Kevin’s mixing approach is bringing new perspectives into the band’s sound and to be truly honest, his bass sound RIPS.

This EP is part of a new collection of 12 inches vinyl singles from Coilguns own label Hummus Records. The “Hummus 12″ Maxi Collection” is pressed on transparent or transparent colored vinyls only. The record is housed in a picture disc style cover sleeve with minimalist graphic design. Side A of the vinyl has music while side B has an original drawing from Noé Cauderay screen printed in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Out of Gas.
