Sutras – “A Daily Reprieve”
Sutras is a post-hardcore band from the greater Washington D.C area. They call it a Dharma punk collective – acknowledging the one thing they know very well: suffering. Musically they pull influence from the legendary post hardcore bands in their vicinity such as Majority Rule and Pianos Become the Teeth, display their love of the “neo crust” movement popularized by bands like Tragedy and From Ashes Rise, while embracing their natural slow, heavy and dreamy approach that recalls Hum or Jesu. All this brings upon a brand of punk and hardcore that is familiar, fresh and fits right in with the current crop of bands that are out today.
“A Daily Reprieve”, is a nice proposal, which shows a good technical mastery in the genre to be proposed. Energetic and gritty general sound. An intense and well-constructed general atmosphere where the dynamics make listening even more compelling and exalting.
“A Daily Reprieve”, involves the listener by dragging him into a suggestive dimension that gives off excellent vibrations through scratchy guitars, which give a remarkable sound impact.
The band , certainly has excellent potential to be able to propose original and not at all obvious ideas, surprising the listener in a positive way, managing to give even more a beautiful injection of energy.
