Sophie’s Threat release their first and demonic music video of their caree

After their debut with the chaotic single “Infernal Manipulation”, a necessary line-up restructuring gave birth to two brutal new tracks: the heavy and conceptual “Suicidal God”, based on the story of the American schizophrenic psychopath Joseph Kallinger, and the latest – and most Death Metal – “Speaking Of The Devil”, a self-criticism of human beings and their hypocrisies, the Melodic Death/Thrash Metal band from São Paulo, Brazil SOPHIE’S THREAT has released their first official music video.

The great acceptance and the expressive numbers of listeners  of their most recent and brutal single “Speaking Of The Devil” on all streaming platforms were the main reason that made Malu Sales (vocals), Tiago Carteano (drums), Ricardo Oliveira and Marcão (guitars), and Paulo R. “Satan” (bass) decide to capture images of the band in action at Oversonic Studio (@oversonicestudio), in São Paulo.

“Heavy, aggressive, with very melodic vocal lines and double pedals almost in its entirety. Maybe it’s the most Death Metal composition we’ve done so far, commented Tiago Carteano (drums).

About the lyrics of “Speaking Of The Devil”, Malu Sales said that “the inspiration came during a chat with a friend about another person they both knew, but coincidentally during the conversation the person in question appeared right on time, arising the famous saying ‘speaking of the devil (he appears)’, disconcerting both immediately (laughs)”.

Basically, the theme of the track was built through self-criticism about how human beings have the hypocritical habit of criticizing others by doing the same things they are criticized for, don’t creating a projection of their own shortcomings. “The lyrics are really an exercise in seeing yourself through others mostly without hypocrisy”, commented Malu.

Following the visual identity and the approached theme, vocalist Malu Sales – besides her extremely aggressive voice – brightened even more the precise and heavy execution of the band, bringing to the music video the same demonic makeup printed on the cover art of “Speaking Of The Devil”.

“The proposal of this makeup is beyond the representation of the duality of good and evil, where the horns represent what in our culture is understood as “evil”, but we have the human part, always subject to failures in evidence. The literal interpretation of the lyrics says that the demon we see in others can only be a reflection of who we also are”, concluded the singer.

Soon, the band is preparing the release of a new single “Poison”, which for those who have been following the recent shows of the quintet already know what to expect, and in the sequence will be part of their long awaited debut EP with five new tracks in the first half of 2023 and thus continue to spread the word of chaos even more! Stay tuned!
