Slugchop – “Face Yourself”

Slugchop, are the classic band that does not like to be cataloged in a single genre and are the classic example of how the experiences of singles manage to create something that is not at all trivial and obvious. A fundamentally metal band, which likes to include other types of influences, from industrial to hardcore. What is sure is that there are no moments of boredom in their new record titled, “Face Yourself”.

These guys, in short, play a timeless genre, sometimes classifiable as a crossover, that crossover that a few decades ago depopulated with bands like Rammstein, and which now seems to have very few exponents willing to arm themselves with courage to revive a brave musical style and bring it back into vogue. . Slugchop do not reach the levels of experimentation of the bands I mentioned, as their style tends to feed more on metal alternatives, but in any case more extreme temptations are not entirely absent, and this makes everything very pleasant to listen to and not stereotyped. .

A vocal line that imposes itself on the rest of the instrumentation, managing to amalgamate and enhance the general sound. The songs all have their own whys and they slip away energetically and played as God commands. In my opinion this is enough and advances to promote a record like “Face Yourself”. But the best thing about this album is that while it doesn’t invent anything new (or at least not out of the blue), it makes you want to be listened to once it’s finished, and this is definitely a sign that the band in question has a lot. to say and that manages to establish a certain alchemy with the listeners.
