Rossometile – “Gehenna”

Seventh studio effort for the Salerno band Rossomethyle, who in all respects, together with Lacuna Coil, can be considered among the pioneers of gothic metal with female vocals, not only in Italy, but internationally, given that we are talking about a band born more or less towards the mid-1990s.

Over time, Rossomethyle’s proposal has evolved and now the band returns with “Gehenna”, an album that draws both from gothic metal and symphonic metal. But it doesn’t end there, the band’s usual dark and melancholic atmospheres have been enriched with even darker elements, almost leading to doom, as happens in “Duet With Satan”, for example. In any case, the band manages to excite and enthrall like never before, thanks to episodes that are undoubtedly not too simple but still complete and which know how to play on almost pop refrains, as is the case with songs that many may like, such as “Blood and Seduction” or the title track itself.

The direct attitude that the band has implemented in this album is perhaps greater than in the previous chapters, and it turns out to be very apt because it does not distort the pessimistic and intimate sound of the band but raises it to a higher level and certainly exposes it to a more large number of listeners. And as usual in this type of album, a high-level female voice does the rest, and here Ilaria Bernardini fully convinces.

An album tailor-made for lovers of gothic and symphonic metal, with fantastic sounds, beautiful cover and truly amazing musical content! To buy sight unseen, even if you don’t know this band.
