Max Boogie Overdrive premieres a new single, “The Devil Knows My Name”

Max Boogie Overdrive premieres a new single, “The Devil Knows My Name,” streaming exclusively today at Ghost Cult Magazine! The new track gnaws at the roots of their Southern California influences. From its dynamic intro and heavy fuzz riffs, the band invites listeners on a road tour of their love of desert rock. There is no mistaking the influence of Fu Manchu or Kyuss racing through the Max Boogie Overdrive veins, laying down four-on-the-floor drums and bass that pushes the need for tube-screaming, heavily distorted tones. However, the song also conjures a more sinister stroke of darkness influenced by singer/bassist Drop Dee’s lyrics on borrowed time, hard choices, and a sense of uncertainty. A stark contrast to the Southern California vibe of sun, beaches, and a perfect buzz, ‘The Devil Knows My Name’ is a song about balance, wrestling with the plight of reality when all we want to do from time to time is escape. The Devil Knows My Name was produced by Jim Bacchi and Daren Ford. Written by Daren Ford, the song was recorded by David Dominguez and Jim Bacchi. Mix and master done by Jim Bacchi, with cover art by Tikiyaki Designs. Immerse yourself in raucous fuzz today with “The Devil Knows My Name,” streaming only at Ghost Cult Magazine.

Like a beach bonfire bong hit, MAX BOOGIE OVERDRIVE’s super-fuzzed-out sound sets the scene. Custom vans, hotrod muscle, sunburnt beaches, legalized weed, and big haze riffs, all set about in a whirlwind of Keith Moon-esque drumming.Max Boogie Overdrive was originally conceived in 2022, as a recording project between guitarist Max Boogie (Hittman, Fuzzbubble, The Tikiyaki Orchestra) and Drop Dee (Red Square Black, Ravine, The Generals) as a way to pursue their passion for all things Stoner and Boogie… mammoth guitar riffs, bellowing vocals, and the swagger of early ’70s Detroit rock n’ roll — dirty, fuzzy, with just a dusting of doom, and whole lotta boogie (not Disco… Heavy Boogie Rock).

The cyclonic drumming of Knuckles (Lords of Altamont, Superbeez) propels the band past the sludge and doom pace, and guitarist RC adds the necessary beef to the mix, fattening up the tone, and added vocal duties.

Max Boogie Overdrive:

Max Boogie (Jim Bacchi) – Lead/Rhythm Guitar
Drop Dee (Daren Ford) – Vocals/Bass
Knuckles (Tom Hernandez) – Drums
RC (Richard Clark) – Rhythm/Lead Guitar

Introduced by the single, “Suffer Sister,Max Boogie Overdrive’s debut album ‘Stoned Again’ is expected for release later this year. That first song offered a dirty Motörhead vibe, while others conjure the spirit of the current Sabbath-influenced desert rock scene. Max Boogie Overdrive’s stoney, toasted So-Cal vibe makes them not your average desert/doom band yet can roll in that caravan, nonetheless. After stuffing your ears full of “The Devil Knows My Name” streaming at Ghost Cult Magazine, go eyeball the “Suffer Sister” video below. https://youtu.be/JK1D07v6icE
