Deadlock Crew, we always searching for a new sound with more impact

Deadlock Crew was born in Trieste, Italy, back in 1999. A solid metal band who maintained in time the same line up, energy and enthusiasm for hard music. Lorenzo and Giuliano, singer/guitarist and drummer, with their experience grown in many local music bands found a perfect synergy with Yure (guitar) and Daniele (bass guitar).

The project is to mash up the different musical genres that influenced their own music since the beginning as thrash metal, alternative metal and hard rock.
Immediately after the set-up of the band, they published a promo-cd called “Lobotomized people” which received a lot of positive reviews from the magazines of the time and pushed the band to remain active on the territory with many gigs, events, festivals and moto rallies

Live performances, made of “enthusiasm, watts and sweat”, soon became the addiction of the band; for this reason, studio recording was overshadowed by the attraction for the stage for an extended period. The COVID-19 years forced the four members to change course and to dedicate themself to developing and recording new material for the 2021 album “Look down on me”.

In 2024 the band has grown further and the fire of enthusiasm and energy has not decreased. On the contrary, after many live shows where they entertained rock/metal music fans, they released their new album “No way out”, a more aggressive and technical album than the previous one.

METALMUSIC – Hi and welcome to this interview. Which is your absolute favorite song from your album?
Hi we are Deadlock Crew and we are very happy to be here!
Our favorite song of No Way Out is Path to Nowhere. Lyrics are inspired by a Gianni Rodari (a famous italian author of children’s tales) to exalt the courage and fortunes of those who are the first to follow a new path. The protagonist, Martino, is a stubborn young boy who decides to walk a path everybody sayd lead to nowhere. Despite all the people’s beliefs he will find a castle a princess and a treasure and became a hero, many .

METALMUSIC – How would you describe your sound?
We’ve been searching for a new sound with more impact, we wrote more complex and technical tracks compared to our first album. Our focus on dynamics and groove resulted in sounds closer to metal than rock. We are very proud of this because it reflects how we feel and it’s a milestone in our effort to produce original music.

METALMUSIC – What do you write about?
Lyrics range over different subjects: from children fables to realms of horror nightmares with no escape, UAV pilots’ frustrations and doubts, the adrenaline rush stirred by the resonating sound of one’s own engine. he last song is in Italian: “Io sono un boomer” is, perhaps, the most direct and aggressive track of the album. The message is straightforward: I acknowledge who I am and this will never change, in the metal world I always feel like a teenager.

METALMUSIC – What do you listen to when you are home?
We love metal music, hard rock and trash generally speaking, all classics from AC/DC to Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Anthrax but also Slipknot, Maston or Municipality Waste for instance. Metallica is our favorite band I think, but basically we listen to everything is played whith power, technic and groove.

METALMUSIC – Your favourite live performance so far?
Generally we love to play in small clubs, but in the summer of 2021 we played at a festival in our region that is called Fusi di Rock. We played our debut album “Look down on me”. Everything was amazing, audience, a lot of people, was very enthusiastic, other bands powerfull professionaly, sounds on the stage were super as the technical support, but first of all organization was excellent and they made us feel part of their family, from the beginnig till the end, difficult to explain but totally engaging.

METALMUSIC -Your favourite albums?
From “kill’em’all” to “…And Justice For All”, …………….

METALMUSIC – A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
There are plenty of musicians I would met for a beer (I like talk about music and I love beer too) but if I have to say only one name, I say Dave Grohl.

METALMUSIC – What are your plans for the near future?
We love to play live, and we are constantly looking for dates, lately we have a lot of new material and maybe we are going to make a third album, but for the moment is top secret 😉
